    1. Review first published on my blog, Pieces of WhimsyWhen I first started reading Tournament of Chance I wasn't sure what to expect but after reading a few chapters I was completely captivated. The story really appealed to my fantasy-loving side and I loved the world S.G. Rogers created. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enoyed this book. The main character was Heather and while I was really interested in her story, I was just as caught up in the lives of the other characters. They were gorg [...]

    2. Once again S.G. Rogers hooked me with a wonderful and enthralling read that had me devouring page after page way past my bedtime. In this book you’ll find everything you expect to come across in a great fantasy novel – magic crystals, wizards, dragons, trolls, and much much more. At first I thought this was going to be something very similar to “The Hunger Games”, but this story is something refreshingly unique, and nowhere close to Suzanne Collins’s dystopian novel. As with her previou [...]

    3. This book had it all, romance, excitement, fantasy and adventure. I really didn't know what I was getting myself into with this book from reading the summary. But I was not disappointed at the end of it.I really love how unique all the ideas in this book are. It's not your basic fantasy and magic novel. It has a unique foundation in which S.G. Rogers enthralls you from the very beginning and doesn't let you go. You experience emotions all over the spectrum and S.G. makes you really believe these [...]

    4. Rogers deftly wields a plot line that would take me three books to see through into one. It's fast paced and fascinating! There were spots I wanted it to slow down a bit to get more of a reaction from the characters but that was mostly because I didn't want it to end. I loved Heather, and Dane, and Jo, and Shimmer, and You know, I loved everyone. This was a completely developed world. The time travel aspect was really interesting, and I really liked the way magic worked in this universe. I'll be [...]

    5. 4.5 starsDid I enjoy this book: I really enjoyed this book. I was intrigued by the synopsis but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Tournament of Chance. I did not expect to like it as much as I did even while reading it. The last third really hooked me.I don't read a lot of fantasy, medieval times book. In fact, I can't remember the last one I readif I did at all. Anyway This was a really good "first" book for me. I didn't feel like I was in a time when there were kings and commoners and drag [...]

    7. First of all, I am not a typical fantasy book reader. I have read several within the past year, and sometimes I really connect with them. This book has a lot going for it. History and fantasy combine to create a pretty dramatic, intriguing tale at times. I was horrified at the treatment of those trying to overthrow the unjust government. I actually wish there had been more historical elements. I am very glad to report that this is a clean read with no profanity nor sex. This means that young adu [...]

    8. At the age of eight Heather travels with her father to the king’s castle. While barred from ever entering because of her low status, she is told that there is one way to become noble. Every year the king holds a contest known as the Tournament of Chance, where any adult female has a chance to win a place in court through an archery competition. What happens when Heather attends the Tournament of Chance at the age of eighteen will change her entire world. “Tournament of Chance” is S. G. Rog [...]

    9. A hunter’s daughter becomes the spark that ignites a revolution—in time. In the Kingdom of Destiny, King Chance decreed any female be she high or low born may earn a place at court by winning an archery competition known as the Tournament of Chance. Although no commoner has ever won before, this is Heather’s year. To prevent her from winning the tournament, however, King Chance will stop at nothing. The king does not yet realize Heather of the Jagged Peaks will be the spark that ignites a [...]

    10. I could make this review short and say, this was one of those books I couldn't wait to get back to, and end it there, but I won't. That says a lot in my book. I read this book every chance I could: before bed, during my lunch time, while putting my make-up on etc. This compelling read has the best of everything! I loved the storyline, the characters, the fantasy world, the romancewell, even the bad guys! Tournament of Chance is one of those books, that when you finish, you love the ending but yo [...]

    11. A riveting paranormal time travelAuthor SG Rogers deftly pulls readers into her layered world of Omaria. The rift between royals and commoners is deep, but once a year in the Tournament of Chance anyone may compete. For eight years, commoner Heather hones her archery skills to win. Magical forces align against her and expose a plot by the royal’s champion. But it’s too late. Heather’s fate is already sealed – she’s marched off to jail. Thanks to a friend and dragons, who turn out to be [...]

    12. Tournament of Chance is one of those books that you can't put down until you've finished it! Layered with conflict page after page, the author took me on a journey that included magic, time travel, romance, dragons, trolls, archery etc. Her setting descriptions were spectacular. I loved the heroine, Heather, right away. She's strong, loveable, determined. Chemistry snapped between Heather and the hero, Dane, but it took awhile for them to figure things out. I loved how the author paced their att [...]

    13. I am a big fan of S.G. Rogers. The beginning and the ending of this novel were fantastic, and the end-between was fun, adventurous, suspenseful, and magical. I admire the author's imagination and the world and characters she created in this book. There are prophecies, wizards, fairies, dragons, trolls, boratures, and an archery hero, Heather of the Jagged Peaks, who ignites a revolution and is sent back in time to attempt to right the wrongs of the current kingdom. Just like the Wizard of Yden s [...]

    14. Once again, S.G. Rogers writes an amazing story. She has an incredible ability to create another world and cast of characters that a reader can escape to and enjoy. This is a thrilling story full of magic, dragons, romance, suspense, fairies and time-travel. I have read other books by this author and I have enjoyed each and every one.I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

    15. Review forthcoming but let me say, this one made me cry! Fine job from one of my latest favorite writers. :)

    16. With just a cursory glance at this book's cover, I could not resist the opportunity to read and review it. I was most intrigued by the fantastical element of dragons, which to me are not as popular as they used to be with the prominence of vampires, shapeshifters, and werewolves in literary works today. When books have such an refreshing outtake I am more inclined to read them, so thanks S.G. Rogers for standing apart from the norm. What I enjoyed most about Tournament of Chance is its presence o [...]

    17. Once again I am enchanted by the work of SG Rogers. Tournament of Chance leads you on a roller coaster of emotion. Starting out with 8 year old Heather who joins her father on a trip to the castle, she discovers so many new things and believes that magic could truly exist. She meets a new friend, Joe, and vows to her father that one day she will live at the castle. Spending the next few years training to become the best archer so she can win a title at the Tournament of Chance, Heather finds her [...]

    18. S.G. Rogers has written a wonderfully captivating story that will keep you reading until the very end. Tournament of Chance has action, mystery, romance, suspense with twists and turns along the way. I loved not only the main character’s Heather and Dane but so many others also. One of the twists in this story (I’m not saying what one) completely shocked and amazed me. I can tell you this it made me so happy I cried and that is all I’ll say about it. If you love a book with a strong leadin [...]

    19. Peacocks, a seaside castle, a fiery redhead, dragons, fairies, onion races (losers will be eaten), wizards, trolls, a handsome prince, flying reptiles, a scary island, a liquid magic lake, time travel, flying boats and a traitor ~ it's all here in this adventure-packed fantasy !Hundreds of years in the past, invading hordes conquered Omaria and the wizards were forced into hiding. With magic outlawed and an abusive aristocracy in power, a talented commoner enters the king's archery tournament wi [...]

    20. HOLD ON -- IT'S GONNA BE A BUMPY RIDE!Take a typical S.G Rogers medieval - type fantasy society. Add typical strong female characters, and great friendships. Add the usual villains. And THEN. . row in the confusion caused by time travel. There you have it. . . wow!I loved the premise, and the characters. I loved the plot twists. The only thing I was unhappy with was that I didn’t feel that the plot held together as well as others that Rogers has written. (That brought me down to a 4-star inste [...]

    23. I found this book on Twitter. Judging from the basic premise, I thought it would be much like "The Hunger Games." But instead of being about a fight for survival, it's more about magical whimsy, high-flying adventure, and especially--young people making googly eyes at each other. Our heroine, Heather of Jagged Peaks, wins an archery tournament but is framed for cheating and ignites a revolution that her friends and neighbors have been waiting for. Instead of leading an army of villagers with pit [...]

    24. Great BookA very well written book. The characters are very believable. The story line keeps you on your toes and you can not put the book down. I read the entire book in one sitting a very talented author with a vivid sense of time and space. I look forward to all her books. Thank you.

    25. An unjust king picks the wrong commoner to betray in Tournament of Chance by S. G. Rogers, a fast-paced fantasy story about a rebellion fueled by love and happening through time itself.I love the tours that I Am a Reader, Not a Writer hosts, since they are a great opportunity to read and review wonderful books that I might not get a chance to otherwise. When the email came for Tournament of Chance, I wasn’t sure what I was getting into, but there was a dragon on the cover so my chances seemed [...]

    26. Heather is a spitfire, backwater girl who knows how to wield a bow and arrow. She’s always dreamed of living in the ornate palace she visited as a child, and if she wins the Tournament of Chance, she can fulfill that dream. But when the tournament turns into an uproar, little does she know that she’s about to be swept into a mission much more daring and significant than her own.I’m not really one for fantasy, so it’s all the more surprising that I liked this book. I wasn’t sure about i [...]
